Mission
ReSpark Innovations LLC was founded to fill a gap in supporting the research, development and commercialization of new technologies through innovative solutions for the integrity of oil and gas assets by identifying promising technology, providing insight and connections of operators to researchers, identifying new applications, overlooked research and forgotten technology and as necessary modifying it and supporting its development to commercialization. This critical gap being filled will help respark innovation in the industry by bringing connections and insight to its ultimate goal of solving industry challenges with practical solutions.

As an operator pipeline integrity engineer for more than 10 years, I have
successfully managed Integrity Management Programs for both small and large operators with both regulated and unregulated gas and liquid assets while regularly
contributing to industry development of API Standard’s and Recommended
Practices in Pipeline Integrity and actively contribute to GPA Midstream.
As a consultant to the industry, I have been contributing to the industry by
speaking at industry conferences, performing regulatory and integrity studies for operators and regulators. My consulting experience has continued to grow my connections and influence within the industry and included expanding to distribution and process facilities. Rick Sugden founded ReSpark Innovations together with Dr. Ying Huang after identifying a gap in industry in the effectiveness of moving research to commercialization by the current industry model. Rick Sugden leads ReSpark Innovations as Founder and CEO and is responsible for business development, operations and consulting. By forming this company, we envision patenting, licensing and producing multiple products to the industry.

Dr. Ying Huang has been PI or Co-PI for more than 18 research projects funded by federal and local agencies including NSF, USDOT, NASA, and other funding agencies with total funding ˃ $13 Million. Dr. Ying has over 160 peer-reviewed journals and 60 peer-reviewed conference publications resulting in 2973 citations and 64 i-10 index, 11 research reports, 30 invited talks (seminars/keynote talks), 46 international/national/regional conference presentations, and 4 approved or pending patents. She is ranked top 2% researcher in the world! Dr. Ying leads ReSpark as a co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for research, testing and product development.
